Foundation Programme

book

The Foundation Programme provides an opportunity to deepen our understanding and experience of Buddhism and meditation through in-depth study and practice. It is designed for those people who wish to study Buddhism and meditation in more depth than is available at General Programme, drop in classes classes. It takes a more structured approach and classes consist of teachings, discussions, chanted meditation and guided meditation. We have two Foundation Programmes at the Centre.

Evening Foundation Programme

Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 19:00-21:00, with Resident Teacher Adam Starr

Foundation Programme (Weekday) is studying the book "Meaningful to Behold". This inspiring book gives a commentary to the universally loved poem Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life by the 8th century master Shantideva. With this commentary by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the full effectiveness and profundity of this wonderful poem are revealed in full and made applicable for our time. Through studying this book we can all learn how to follow the Bodhisattvas way of life. A Bodhisattva is someone who is a friend to the world and who has such strong compassion they are able to transform all their daily activities into a means to benefit others.

Weekend Foundation Programme

Saturdays 10:00-15:00, with Resident Teacher Adam Starr

Foundation Programme (Weekend) is studying the book "Heart of Wisdom".  This book provides an explanation of the Heart Sutra which explores and challenges our underlying assumptions about ourselves and the world around us. By studying this book we are given an opportunity to understand the ultimate nature of reality, Emptiness, thereby freeing us from the inner source of our unhappiness and helping us to explore our potential for limitless peace & contentment.
