Can I attend the classes if I've never meditated before
and am a complete beginner?

Yes, our introductory classes are designed for beginners. People with more experience of meditation can also take these classes and receive benefit or try our intermediate classes.

Do I have to wait for the next series of classes to begin?

No, each class is self-contained. You can choose to attend only one class or the whole series.

What classes are available and where should I start?

There are several classes a week at three different levels. We have introductory classes that take place here at the centre in Liverpool,
and we also run introductory classes at our branches in Bootle, Crosby, Formby, Liverpool City Centre, Southport, St Helens and Widnes.

What happens in a typical class?

The classes begin with a relaxation meditation. Then there will be a talk on some aspect of Buddhist meditation and positive thinking, emphasising how these can be applied to find peace in our daily lives. Finally, there is a second meditation and questions-and-answers. The classes conclude with light refreshments.

Will I be asked to say anything, or speak in front of a group of people?

No, but you can ask questions if you would like to.

Is there any physical exercise involved, such as yoga?

No, the classes just focus on meditation and positive thinking.

Do I need to book in advance for the introductory classes?

No, you don't need to book.

What do I need to bring?

Nothing in particular. However, some people find it useful to bring a notepad and pen.

How should I dress?

There are no special requirements, but comfortable clothing is generally best.

Do I have to be a Buddhist to benefit from meditation?

No, anyone can learn meditation and experience the benefits. Buddhists respect all people and are happy to help anyone regardless of whether they subscribe to another faith, or to none at all.
