Buddhism for Beginners

10th April 2010, 10:00-17:00

An introduction to meditation and Buddhist teachings.

This course of for anyone who wants to know more about who Buddha was and what he taught! Explaining Buddha's life story and his teachings on karma, the nature of the mind, rebirth and Enlightenment. Also, see how modern Buddhists live and work - this course has plenty of time to discuss and ask questions. The course fee is £20 including a vegetarian lunch and refreshments.


Medicine Buddha Empowerment

8th May 2010, 10:00-17:00

'Healing Ourselves and Others'.

Kelsang Gema will grant a blessing Empowerment of Medicine Buddha, the Buddha Doctor. Through making a special connection with Medicine Buddha we can relieve sickness and suffering in both ourselves and others. After the Empowerment there will be commentary and explanation of the practice. All welcome to this special event. Course fee £25 including vegetarian lunch & refreshments.


Relaxation Retreat

23rd May 10:30-13:00

Based on the popular meditation cd 'Meditations for relaxation', this course gives the opportunity to engage in these meditations with a teacher guiding and the opportunity to ask questions. A perfect way to spend a Sunday morning! Facility Fee: £12 per half-day course (excluding CD), including brunch.

A Pure Heart

12th June 2010, 10:00-17:00

Teachings on Purification

We can feel overwhelmed by unhappy feelings yet we are unsure of their cause. Buddha gave us methods for taking out the impurities in our mind which cause us suffering and unhappy feelings. By engaging in purification practice we create the causes for happiness and destroy potentials for suffering. This course explains some of these practices and how to apply them. The course fee is £20 including a vegetarian lunch and refreshments.


Learn to Meditate in half a day

3rd July 10:30-13:00

Ideal for beginners, this course teaches basic Buddhist meditation techniques, with an explanation of how they function and plenty of time to practise and ask questions. Ideal if you have a wish to set up a daily meditation practise. There are two sessions with a break for refreshments. Facility Fee: £12 per half-day course, including brunch.

Accommodation is available in either single rooms or a dormitory.
